Office 2000 SR-1 Update could not download

When I try to update Office 2000, I get an error message:
"Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Update could not download the Office 2000 SR-1
Core Update"
This is a permanant error.
What can I do?

I recently had this problem on a Windows 98SE system running Offic
Update. I also tried downloading the o2ksr1a.exe program and had th
same problem. If you keep Retrying long enough you will eventually ge
a message pointing you to a log file, something lik
"C:\Windows\Temp\sr1patch\Office 2000 RS-1 Setup(0001).txt

I solved this failure by deleting the sr1patch folder in the %temp
area (usually C:\Windows\Temp) and trying the SR-1a update again

1. Start a DOS prompt Windo
2. Type cd %temp
3. Type deltree sr1patc
4. Type exi
5. Try the SR-1a update again, either through Office Update or b
running o2ksr1a.ex
