When I try to install SR1a, I get the same <expletive
deleted> error message:
The update program did not locate the expected version of
Microsoft Microsoft Office 2000 on the machine. Insert the
Microsoft Office 2000 Premium disk and click OK.
According to the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 255499
OFF2000: Why the Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a Update Requires
the Office 2000 CDs (previously published under Q255499),
Office XP SP1 and other Office XP updates may not require
the source CD if Installer 2.0 is installed. Windows XP
ships with Installer 2.0. Well, where the <expletive
deleted> do I find this Installer? And why doesn't the
program simply LOOK for it instead of insisting on a CD,
which I never got when I purchased the machine from a
local "builder."
This is SO frustrating! Great idea, Microsoft. I thought
all these problems were supposed to go away with XP!
