I tried to install sp3 to office 2000 and it failed. It said it couldn't
find the file word.msi. I am using the original cds. Does anyone know how
to work around this?

Check under Add/remove Programs in the Windows control
panel to see if you have a separate install for
Microsoft Word listed. If so, it may be on CD#1 from
MS Works Suite.

I am having a similar problem. SP-3 update is asking for data1.msi for Word
2000 SR-1. I just updated to SR-1 via the web. Where would this file be?
The data1.msi on my original Office 2000 Standard edition worked for the
Office portion of the update, but not for the Word portion.

I've checked in the Knowedge Base without any success. Any input would be
appreciated. I do not have MS Works installed on this computer (or any
others that I own or have owned).

Thanks in advance,
Marc
