Office 2000 update for XP?

K

Ken Isaacson

I run Office XP, and just downloaded certain patches said to be for OXP.

I then got a window saying that some updates were not installed because of a
missing necessary update. The missing update is shown as an Office 2000
update - I think it was update 1a.

Should I be installing an Office 2000 update on Office XP?

Thanks.

Hi, Ken,

I don't think so, but check in your Control Panel's "Add/Remove Programs"
list to make sure you don't still have any Office 2000 components installed.

That's the strange thing. I *never* had any "Office 2000" compenents
installed. "Out of the box" I installed Office XP.
So I'm curious why Update would even suggest that I need an "Office 2000"
update.....

Susan--Does that mean I can delete Office 2000 components
if they show up in the add/remove program since I now
have office xp v2002?

Hi, Lisa Marie,

Yes, if you want, you can use the Control Panel uninstall any Office
components you no longer use. You will need the original installation media
to do the uninstallation.

Office XP should have asked you if you wanted it to perform the
uninstallation for you.
