office 2000 update - non-online (78 year young)

Hello
Dad does not have broadband, so I have obtained the files needed to burn to
CD to give to him to update his office 2000 on WinXP. I Found
http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2000ddl.htm#o2sr1au
which has 2 files and then to take it to SP3 found
http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2000ddl.htm#O2ksp3a
which has just the 1 file.
Do not fully understand how to describe to him how to install these ?
can someone give me/(him) "fool-proof" instruction (he is 78!)
Is the Data1.exe needed? I doubt he will also find the original office 2000
CDs
thanks in advance

Don't bother trying to install the updates if you don't have the
Office 2000 CD. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=828450
"Why service packs, updates, and security patches may require the
Office 2000 CD-ROM".

Even if you use the full-file version of a service pack for
Office 2000, you may still be prompted to insert the Office 2000
CD. If you cannot provide the CD when prompted, then the service
pack installation will fail, and some of your Office applications
may be left in a non-functional condition.

You should keep your Office CD in a safe place. You will need it
to install updates, or to add or remove features, or to repair or
uninstall or reinstall Office.
