Office 2000 update

I logged on to microsoft and had the updater check my computer (running
windows 98) for Office updates (have office 2000 premium addition). It
checked it out and advised me to download a "critical" office update. I did
that (about 15,000 kb at a very slow rate). When it finished it started the
install and then up popped an error message before it was done. It shut down
the computer and rebooted. I went back to microsoft and it showed the file
downloaded but not installed. I decided to leave well enough alone and went
no further.
I am now getting the same error message on a regular basis which I can't
identify with any particular program.
"A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C027FA53 in VXD VMM (06) +
00003A53. Hit any key to continue etc......"
When I kit a key the computer starts grinding, for about about a minute and
one half, and then the same error message reappears.
I then have to shut down the computer and wait for it to occur the next
time.
Does anyone have a clue on what my problem is or how to correct it?
Thank you very much for assistance.
Sincerely,
FM

Sounds like you need to update your video drivers.

Milly,
I did some additional investigation and found article Q145836, which
describes my exact error message, (not the windows networking, but the
second example.) except it has to do with windows 95 system registry, which
was never installed on my computer. I did have at one point a 95 version of
Word. I don't have a backup copy of Widows System Registry for Windows 95.
Can you tell me what to do?
The computer has continued to make noises like it was trying to boot up. I
checked the startup files and it seems that in the update process microsoft
has loaded "MOSearch". Could this file be searching for windows 95 in my
registry? I have unchecked MOSearch and the noises has ceased for the time
being.
Thanks for your help.
