Office 2000 update

How do I perform the Office 2000 SR updates when at the end of downloading
the file it asks me to insert the MS Office disk that contains "data1.msi". I
had purchased my computer from Dell and did not receive the disk, the
programs were already installed. Is there any other way or am I left to see
if I can get the disk from Dell? Any recommendations or suggestions?

Do try and get the disk from Dell - one day you'll need the recovery disk etc

In the meantime, try downloading the full update files which are generally larger.

or
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/downloads/maincatalog.aspx
under Updates (on the left column) - Office Update
Select Options for Using Office Update - on the right towards the top
"When installing Office Update"
Check - Use larger update files that should not require access to my product CD or network
installation location.

There are no guarantees.

Office 2000 SR1 unfortunately needs the install disks to install the updates. Also unfortunately support for Office 2000 has been discontinued for a number of years. The only way that you can find Office 2000 install disks at this time is to go to a place like EBay and see if anybody is selling them. I extremely doubt that Dell would have it. Also keep in mind that Dell install is an OEM version and most likely you will need the same type of install disk that was used by Dell to install the Office 2000 unto your computer

My bad, Peter's right it doesn't work for Office 2000. You require the installation CD.
