Office 2000 updated, getting error about configuration failed

Good evening,

I have a office 2000 installation that won't apply some updates after
running officeupdates. It comes up stating that the configuration failed.

Product: Microsoft Office 2000 Premium -- Configuration failed.

The other component to this error is:
Detection of product '{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}', feature
'OfficeUserData', component '{C9AF9050-C8BE-11D1-9C67-0000F81F1B38}' failed.
The resource
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\UserData' does not
exist.

Every time that we try to launch word, we are unable to get it up and
running without going through the whole Office 2000 is configuring menu
window coming up. It comes up each time it is launched. Can someone please
help out with this one? Has anyone seen this? What is supposed to be in this
key area it states is missing.

I am running Office 2000 Premium then have outlook 2003 installed so
reinstalling office 2000 didn't do anything.

The office settings seem to be retained even though I removed the office
2000 components. I believe that the office 2003 components help the settings
for office 2000 being retained.

I need to find a way to get this registry fixed, and the installation to
move on.

I tried running the MSI installer remover from MS, but that now won't allow
me to reinstall the office installation from scratch. Every time I have tried
to reinstall, service pack 3 is already installed. It doesnt remove that for
some reason.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have the same problem with Office 2003 SP2 update with MUI. After the
update when i start any Office Application the repair function from msi is
starting. In the event Viewer its written something like,
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\UserData' is missing
, when put in this key`s manualy it works. Something wrong with our update
procedure ? SP1 was installed before.

Thanks...
