office 2000 upgrade cd

My laptop crashed so I used the restore disk wiping everything.

I have an office 2000 “upgrade†cd but when I try to install it I get the
message that setup can’t locate any eligible programs for the upgrade.

MS works is on the system and was the eligible program when I install this
same upgrade disk when I first got the laptop.

Why is it not acceptable now?

Can anyone tell me how to reinstall office if all I have is the upgrade cd?

Any information would be appreciated

Hi Frankie,

If the version of MS Works is newer than the Office 2000 version, MS Office won't recognize it as an upgrade qualifier.
