Office 2000 upgrade to 2007

I currently run Office 200 on Windows XP. I now want to upgrade to Office
2007. If I just take the upgrade online where will all of my emails currently
in Outlook 2000 end up going. Do I have to save all the emails somewhere and
then import them back into Outlook 2007. I am new to all this so any help
much appreciated
