Office 2000 with XP -- Do I need to reinstall updates after detect and repair?

Running Office 2000 on a machine with XP. Due to problems
with both Outlook and Excel, have run Detect and Repair
(found on the Help memu). It asks for me to install
Office 2000 using the Office disk which I have and use.
After it installs, do I need to download and reinstall
the updates and service packs for Office or are they
still resident and functional in the machine?
