Office 2000 won't run after Windows XP upgrade

I recently upgraded my PC from Windows ME to XP. Prior
to the upgrade, I had installed Office 2000
Professional. Since the Windows Upgrade, I have not been
able to run the previously installed office programs. I
have tried to re-install, but after running through the
first installation CD, I am instructed to insert the
Office XP Service Pack 1 CD, which I do not have. I
still have my old Office icons in my program menu, but
when I try to access, Windows tries to re-install and
instructs me to insert my Office XP cd. It will not
accept the Office 2000 cd. Does anyone have a solution
to this problem?

Hi Kenneth,

Office XP is not part of Windows XP. Is Office XP listed in Add/Remove
Programs in the Control Panel?

Otherwise did you purchase a retail version of Windows XP? If you
didn't then where did you obtain the installation CDs for Windows XP?

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

Hi Beth,

I too am having this problem. I purchased the WinXP Home edition upgrade
and installed the OS upgrade with no problems except this one. I checked
in the add/remove programs and Office XP is not present.

Is there anything else I might check to get this issue resolved?

Thanks,
mrb
