Normal.dot should only EVER be in Documents and Settings, Username,
Application Data, Microsoft, Template folder. Find normal.dot and rename is
as normal.bad. Make sure that Startup is empty. test again.

: Hello TF,
:
: I believe I accurately followed instructions in the below link. I was able
: to open word under "Run" winword.exe /a. However, when searched for
: normal.dot this was found in the template folder. There are no files in
the
: "Start-up" folder. So, I renamed normal.dot to normal.old and copied to
: "Startup" folder. However, I am still unable to open Word. This is so
: strange. The other person that has access to my computer(Windows XP) can
open
: word normally with no problems.
: Any other suggestions for me.
