Office 2000 Word

Hello there,

I'm running word from Office 2000 Premium edition and
whenevr I load it up it's annoyingly slow to begin with -
for example, if I type something and then go and try and
change the font for it, it takes minutes for the font list
to come up. This is a bit ridiculous. After the first one
though it seems fine.

It also crashes whenever I try and exit the program,
citing the program as "Winword".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, this
doesn't seem to have made any difference. No other program
seems to have a problem. Wordpad works fine (but it lacks
the features necessary!).

I'm running Windows '98. Does anyone have any ideas as to
how to correct this problem? Thanks very much.

Maybe first thing to check is how many fonts are in the
WIN fonts folder. If it's above 500 on aslow computer
then things will be slow.
