Office 2000

D

donneetee

Am running Windows Vista.

Is there any way to download all available updates for Office 2000 at one
time or do I have to do it one at a time ?

M

Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]

Office 2000 updates are no longer available as extended support ended in
July of this year. Microsoft has been obliged to remove all support files
based on the Sun Java decision.

Vague legal implications notwithstanding, there are other options available.
Search this forum.
You bought a product.... you get to keep it.

This is incorrect.
All of the updates are not here, specifically SR-1.
You need to search this forum.
This has been answered numerous times.

You bought a license. That license is now invalid.

That said, a link that backs up her statement would be of interest.

Once something like Office 2000 or any MS product is done with extended support or
any support the license becomes invalid. No need for documentation.Has been like this
since inception and you can read all about it in your Eula for Office 2000

As far as your post goes for the rest all I can say to you is LOL you are funny.

Well, Peter, you can keep trolling here as well
(unless this is your forum... I thought it belonged to everyone).

And good luck with that generic EULA BS.

You can keep telling people they need to buy new software.
I'll keep telling them how they can keep Office 2000 and make it work.

All they need to do is search this forum.
The truth is clear.... if you find it funny, enjoy!

As Office 2000 needs no activation like its successors do, MS can't stop
anyone from using it. With Office XP and up, it remains to be seen if MS
will pull the activation plug.

Here:

From Wikipedia (which your lazy butt could have researched if you took the
time)

Sun vs. Microsoft
In October 1997, Sun Microsystems, the creator of Java, sued Microsoft for
incompletely implementing the Java 1.1 standard.[4]

In January 2001, Sun and Microsoft settled the suit. Microsoft paid Sun $20
million and the two agreed to a plan for Microsoft to phase out products
that included the older version of Microsoft Java that allegedly infringed
on Sun's Java copyrights and trademarks.

a.. Office XP Developer
b.. Office 2000 Developer
c.. Office 2000 Premium Service Release 1
d.. Microsoft BackOffice Server 2000
e.. Internet Security and Acceleration Server(ISA) 2000
f.. Internet Explorer 5.5
g.. Visual Studio 6 Microsoft Developer Edition
h.. Windows 98 and Windows Me
The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine was discontinued in 2001 in response to
the Sun Microsystems lawsuit. Microsoft continued to offer support until
June 30, 2009.[5]

Now go away.

Lazy... hmmm...
You made the statement.... seems you are the one who should justify it.

Yes, this is an obscure reference that somehow justifies MS removing the
SR....
.... quite obscure.... and I wouldn't be surprised if the problem that caused
this discontinuation isn't fixed in subsequent SPs (no, I'm not going to
research it), but SR-1 is a prerequisite.

People still have a right to use Windows 2000.
MS may not provide SR-1.... but I, and others, will help them find it.
