office 2002 cannot open or send files

A few weeks ago when I lost the ability to email files to other people.
Whenever they try to open the file, it fails. I can open my files on my
computer, but no one else can on their computer. Also, I can no longer open
files that other people send me. I've installed office 2003 and am having the
same problem. I've been able to email and receive files just fine for the
past 2 1/2 years on the same computer. Any ideas?

More details please.

When you say, "Whenever they try to open the file, it fails",
what error messages to these other people see, or what makes them
believe that "it fails"?

When you say, "I can no longer open files that other people send
me", what happens when you try? If you get an error message,
please quote it exactly and completely.

"Word experienced an error trying to open the file.
Try these suggestions.
*Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
*Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
*Open the file with the Text Recovery converter."

This is the error that appears both when I am trying to open other people's
files and when others are trying to open my files.

Strangly enough, I just tried opening a different word file sent from another
computer and I received a different error message this time. I've always
received the previous message, but this time I received this:

"The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
*Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
*Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document."

For this error message, see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/328100/en-us "You receive a 'The
document name or path is not valid' error message when you open a
document in Word 2002".

Regarding the first error message, are all of the affected
documents emailed to/from you? If yes, then it's probably
something in the email attachment encoding/decoding process that
could be corrupting the files, and maybe zipping the files and
sending the zipped versions might help. Have you tried using the
'Open and Repair' option from Word's File->Open menu to open the
affected documents?

I'm having a problem sending files for review. I have been able to send files
with no problem then I had a update with Microsoft outlook and now I can't
send anything. The update ended half way through, how do I get back to
filling out the informaiton from the update?
