Problem Description: When trying to open an attached Word
document within outlook, Windows installer starts (even
though the complete installation of OXP is "run from my
computer") and then prompts with the "Open With" dialog.
At this point, Winword is not in the list of available
applications. You may select "other" and choose Winword
from the Office installation directory and check
the "always use this app for file type" box. The doc opens
in Word okay. However next time you want to open a doc in
the same way, the whole process is repeated. Therefore the
settings are not saved within the Office installation. A
file permissions problem? A reinstall of OXP does not fix
the issue. In folder options, there is a relevant file
association for .doc files with Word. Also windows
installer starts when you start any OXP app (except
Outlook) and installs any necessary components.
