OFFICE 2003 60-DAY TRIAL

This was installed on a new HP computer. I initiated it
10 days ago and it will only allow me to open about 1/2
of my old Word documents which were done in Office 2000.
Says I need a converter which I cannot install because it
then wants an Office 2003 disk - which, of course, I do
not have. HP is no help at all. Says it's a Microsoft
problem.

Word 2003 should be able to open any file created with Word 2000 and 2002
without the need for a converter. What converter is it looking for? Try
downloading and installing the text converters from
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/office/2003/all/reskit/en-us/boxa07.mspx.

I downloaded the convertors at the page you said and it
did not work. Still can't open quite a few Word files -
and it does not tell me what type of convertor it
requires - just a "convertor". Thanks for trying.
