Office 2003 activation not working

When i try to activate any office 2003 application (i.e. word) using the
'Activate Product' nothing happens. I have looked through the KB and followed
the instructions for deleting the 'Opa11.dat' file but still nothing happens.

Office was pre-installed when i bought my computer from the manufacturer.

Please help.

You probably have a trial version of Office 2003, and the trial
period has expired. Some trial versions cannot be converted
online to perpetual versions... if you start Word or Excel, click
on Help | Activate Product, and don't see an option to activate
or convert, then you probably have one of these. You can
purchase a full version of Office 2003 from your favorite online
or conventional retailer, and install it from the CD after you
uninstall the trial version.

Is there some way of checking whether i have a full and trial copy? There is
no mention of a trial period in Help -> About or at the startup of any of the
office applications.

If it's a trial version, then Help->About should say something
like "Microsoft Office <program name> 2003 Evaluation Kit".

According to the Microsoft Office website it says that the 60 day trial
version will need 500MB of hard disk space once unzipped.
I have looked in Add or Remove Program and the size of my office
installation is 4,092.00MB? There is no mention of the word trial either in
the description.

Add and Remove "size numbers" are not to be used for determining space
used on the drive.

As Bob says, that's not the way to tell.

Unless you ordered a custom-built computer from someone like Dell or Gateway
and specifically configured it to include Office, you got the trial version.
I can't think of any over-the-counter computers that have full versions of
Office pre-installed.
