Office 2003 - add components doesn't work

Tried to add PowerPint to a user's machine from Office 2003 Professional
setup. The initial install was done using a custom transform file through a
Windows NT Command Script. Although it says it upgraded successfully, Power
Point is not added (is is not part of the Transform). The .MST file is in
the same network folder as the Office 2003 setup. I'm not using the .CMD
script to try to install PP, so I'm wondering: is Setup seeing the .MST and
using it anyway? Or did the original install write something to the registry
(or elsewhere) to stop PP from installing? Thanks!

Hi Ron,

Transforms (.MST) only work for an initial installation. Changing feature sets of an already deployed Office 2003 make use of the
Office 2003 Custom Maintenance Wizard and .CMW files from the ORKTools in the Office 2003 Resource Kit.

Thanks for that info, Bob. But it diesn't answer my question: Why then did
PowerPoint not install, since I *wasn't* using the Transform when I ran
setup?

Hi Ron,

In your original post you said that the initial installation *was* done with a transform for Office 2003 Professional edition. All
of the apps are basically 'installed' though not fully available until they're set to 'run from my computer' which sets in the final
pieces. Transforms are ignored once you've installed the Office product.

Once an Office product is installed, the maintenance Wizard mimics the actions you would take as an end user to go to add/remove
Programs in the Windows control panel and change the features to use additional features.
