Currently, we are an Office 2000 Shop. I created an Administrative
Installation Point using the old setup.exe /A arguement and network install
to the workstations is fairly quick.
I just started playing with Office 2003 and MS seems to be promoting copying
the disk image onto the LAN and running the transform file against it,
rather than using the /A option (which is still an option). Using the disk
image apparently provides additional advantages to the client.
However, running the client install of just Word, Excel and Powerpoint took
a very long time. Wheras O2K is about a 5 minute install, O03 took a good
20 minutes. I'm wondering if this is due to the decompression of the cab
files. Would the /A method be faster? Is it worth it?
I'd appreciate knowing other experiences. Workstations involved are mainly
W2K. Mixed Netware and NT Domain environment. Clients do have netware
client installed.
Thanks.
