Office 2003 and laptops

I have multiple users (all on IBM thinkpad T42's and T43) who will be using
Word or Excel and will have everything on the page highlight, then the PC
locks up. It acts as if the CTRL or CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK (no consistency)
has been depressed. I have had motherboards, keypads and external mice and
keyboards replaced to no avail. It ONLY happens with Office 2003 Word and
Excel (can't say if any earlier versions do this as we don't use them). Has
any one had this problem, and if so, do you have a fix for it? (I don't get
this problem with our users on Dell D600/610's)

Do any other programs that are not office programs Lockup? I repair those
models and system board issues are not uncommon even after the board is
replaced.....

To add more detail (this page is acting up) I have not yet had anyone using
anything but Word or Excel complain about this. That isn't to say its not
happening, just that I haven't gotten any feedback. I am following up with
the users to see if it does occur in other programs.
