Office 2003 and Office 2007? Worth upgrading?

Hi all,

Just need opinion on this. Another site of my office is still using 2003
while we're stucked with 2000 and 2002. Our vendor told us MS is not selling
2003 anymore, so asked us to go with 2007 but our site office advised us
against going with 2007.

so my question is: Is 2007 worth upgrading, or should we still hang on with
2000 or 2002 as 2003 is not in the street anymore?

Actually, you can still purchase Office 2003 from online vendors such as
Amazon.com.

Office 2007 adds some some new features and takes away some old features
(see
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Offic...213f-47d5-809c-aba9331ae0331033.mspx?mfr=true
).

Word, Excel, and Powerpoint 2007 have a different file format than their
2000/2002/2003 counterparts and a different user interface that takes
some getting used to. 2007 applications can "save as" to the older
97-2003 format, and you can install a compatibility pack in
2000/2002/2003 applications to allow them to open 2007-format files, but
some users report that some features are broken in the conversion from
2007 to pre-2007 and vice versa, as might happen when files are sent
back and forth for editing among users who have different Office
versions.

Office 2007 requires Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista. Other minimum
system requirements are listed at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites/HA101668651033.aspx . I'd
recommend at least 1 gig of RAM though.

I am also not a big convert for Office 07.
I ran it on my tablet for about 6 weeks, trying to come to grips wit
the new interface and all the changes that they have introduced.

At the end of the day, my productivity went down and there was no bi
'difference' or improvement in the software.

There was no value obvious to me as to why I should keep persisting.
am now back to Office 2003 and am very happy with it.

I won't be going back to 07.

cheers
