Office 2003 and reboots

Hi

We have a corporate license for Microsoft Office 2003 Standard. We have
tried to install it on a number of desktops of diferent types (home made
clones and Dells) with no luck. The machines keep rebooting, sometimes when
you start Word and try to exit it, and sometimes just even starting Outlook.
the event viewer error message is as follows.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000050
(0xe3503000, 0x00000000, 0xbfe2fd0f, 0x00000001). Microsoft Windows 2000
[v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini123003-02.dmp.

We have tried different options where we install as an upgrade and then a
complete install but to no avail. Has anyone experienced this problem as
well or does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks in advance for
you help.

Hi Diane

All the machines are on SP4. As regards the Outlook profiles, the issue is
not just with Outlook or Word but also Excel as well. And we did in fact try
removing the profiles and recreating them but that did not fix the issue
either.

I did nto try renaming normal.dot though so I will certainly try that on my
next machine. If you have any other suggestions, I will be more than happy
to try them. Thanks for your help.

What Windows SP are you using?

Try renaming Word's normal.dot and creating new profiles for outlook.

opening an incident with PSS might be a good move - they can look at the
dump and will have a better idea what's wrong.

You disabled AV when you installed Office, didn't you?

Yes, Anti-Virus was disabled. if I open a case with PSS they will charge me
an arm and a leg. I was hoping to get a solution without having to call
them.
