We have deployed MS Office 2003 to 400 user stations
across our network.
We run Windows 2000 professional on a novell netware 6
network.
We have used a custom mst and ops file to customize the
user environment.
There are a number of users (approximately 50-75) who are
prompted with the notification "Please wait while Windows
configures Microsoft Office Standard...." and the progress
bars start and then regress a number of times before the
program opens. Every time the affected user opens the MS
Office program this same process occurs, and our custom
settings are never applied.
This is unique to a single user/pc.
There is a MsiInstaller notification created each time in
event viewer stating "Detection of product '{90120409-6000-
11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}', feature 'OfficeUserData',
component '{C9AF9050-C8BE-11D1-9C67-0000F81F1B38}'
failed. The
resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
\Common\UserData' does not exist."
It seems to relate back to a windows installer issue and
possible older installations of MS Office products.
Other than the invasive approach of deleting the user
profile what can be done?
Thank you in advance for all suggestions.
