Office 2003 applications crashes when opening web document

i am trying to open a website (html document) in ms-word 2003 using vba, unfortunately the application crashes after displaying a small infowindow "trying to access webserver"

so i tried to open webdocuments manually via the word gui, with the exactly same result

this behaviour is shown excatly comparable by word 2003, excel 2003, publisher 2003, visio 2003 and infopath 2003
the only application which allows me to open a web document was frontpage 2003

i am running windows 2000 pro
the installation of the office 2003 update doesn't change the behaviour
oh, and i tryed different urls as well, all with the same result

on my machine a previousversion of office installed, which have no problem opening webdocuments

does anyone have a possible solution for this matter

Hi Larry

What webstorage system are you saving against WSS/Sharepoint/STS, do you get
any access on the logs on the IIS running your webserver is it getting that
far, what are the security sessions on Internet Explorer this maybe limiting
access to required functionality.

You don't say how it crashes is there a message, do you reset the word
session ?

Hello Mike,

thanks for replying,
and sorry it took me so long to answer,

the problem basicly was that i could not open any url directly into let say ms-word,
e.g. trying to open "http://www.google.com" or "http://www.britannica.com/"

so this seems to be a general word/office xp issue, and has nothing to do with automation or web developements, althougt i stept over this issue in an automation project.

it also seems to be an enviroment depending behaviour, caus i set up another machine, with - what i thought - the same enviroment settings (os, service packs, software, etc.) but everthing worked fine, an even the office 11 applications were able to open HtmlFiles directly from the web, like all other office versions applications.

so these seems to be an office 11 flaw, that , under special - whatever - circumstances it crashes while opening HtmlFiles directly from the web.
this conclusion is of course not to convincing, espacially for projects you use this functionality via automation.

but - thats life
