Office 2003 applications hang

Office 2003 SP2 on Windows XP SP2.
I have a strange one. One of my customers all of a sudden today when he
opens Word, Excel or Powerpoint (Outlook is okay) the window opens to a blank
screen with a Microsoft title bar and the application hangs. Tried detect and
repair. Uninstalled and reinstalled Office. Verified he has no mapped network
drives. The strange thing is in Task Manager it shows there are two instances
of the application running and both are Not Responding. Happens when trying
to open an existing document or just the application by itself.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem except my applications are not blank. I've tried the
same things you've tried. I've cleaned the registry. I've even used a file
killer to remove the files that remained after I "uninstalled" Office 2003
Pro and cleaned the registry. There are no errors listed in the Event Viewer.
I've run out of ideas.
