Office 2003 applications suddenly not genuine.

Word/Outlook/etc. have started telling me they are not genuine when I
launch them. I saw a Microsoft Update recently that probably triggered
this.

The popup has a link to a page where I can investigate why it is not
genuine. It asks for my product id, then complains that it is an ID
issued to large organisations. Well, IBM is a large organisation, and
that is where I got my Office 2003. I work for IBM.

If I explore other (Microsoft) ways of validating my product, I find
that it *is* genuine.

Is there some way that I can find out what is causing it not to appear
genuine?

I downloaded a fresh copy, and installed it on top of what I currently
have (in order to preserve all my settings) but that didn't help.

However, the popups are becoming less frequent, so perhaps the checker
is starting to have doubts.

I am having the very same problem, it has been counting down the days for
approximately 30 days and now is "marked" as not genuine. I am sure that it
occured as a result of an update as it had never happened previously. My
version of Office was installed on my brand new laptop directly from Dell, so
like you, I am positive that my version is, in fact, genuine. I've seen
others posting this problem but have not seen a resolution. In speaking to
someone who knows software, they indicated that you need to uninstall the
program before reinstalling, otherwise you will bring any corrupt INI files
in with the new version. You may be able to save your settings somewhere else
and reactivate them after reinstalling.

Isnt there anyone who knows why this is happening? There are many people
with this problem, why hasnt Microsoft created a fix?
