Office 2003 Basic Edition -- Need Help

Basic edition Office 2003 came pre-loaded on the machine.
Can I upgrade this to Office 2003 Professional Edition?
Or do I have to get a full version?

A post earlier today stated that Office 2003 lesser version do not
qualify for upgrading to Office 2003 Pro. It seems that you need the
full version.

If you have a qualifying product, then yes (products of the same version
line do *not* count as qualifiers - i.e. you cannot use your Office 2003 SBE
as a QP for 2003 Pro). You need one of the following

Office (versions 97, 2000 or XP)
Works version or 6
Works Suite 2004, 2003, 2002 (IIRC).

However, the system manufacturer may have a 30-day grace period. If you are
still within that time limit, call them and see if they will exchange the
SBE for Pro (they will charge you the difference, obviously). If they are
not willing to do this, and you do not own one of the qualifying products
listed above then, yes, you will need to purchase a full licence.
