Office 2003 Basic upgrade to Pro

Can I upgrade Office 2003 Basic Edition to Office 2003 Professional?
Can I use the Upgrade Version or do I need the full version of Pro?

Office 2003 Basic is not a qualifying product for upgrade to
Office 2003 Professional. But the following Microsoft products
do qualify for upgrade:
• Microsoft Office XP Developer, Office XP Professional with
FrontPage®, Office XP Professional Special Edition, Office XP
Professional with Publisher, Office XP Professional, Office XP
Small Business Edition, Office XP Standard
• Microsoft Office 2000 Developer, Office 2000 Premium, Office
2000 Professional, Office 2000 Small Business Edition, Office
2000 Standard
• Microsoft Office 97 Professional, Office 97 Small Business
Edition (version 2), Office 97 Small Business Edition (version
1), Office 97 Standard
• Microsoft Works 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, or 8.5
• Microsoft Works Suite 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, or
2006

If one or more of these qualifying products is licensed to the
computer you wish to upgrade, then you can install the upgrade
version of Office 2003 Pro. Otherwise, you will need the full
version.

I need to upgrade Office Small Business Edition 2003 to Office Professional
Edition 2003, however, it is not recognizing my version of Windows XP. It
tells me it can not locate on my Drive. Any suggestion as to how this might
work?

I believe you are quoting the error message incorrectly. Office 2003
Small Business Edition is not a qualifying product for upgrade to Office
2003 Professional. You have three options:
1. Purchase a full version of Office 2003 Professional, which does
not require a qualifying product for installation,
2. Purchase an upgrade version of Office 2003 Professional plus one
of the qualifying products I listed, or
3. Purchase standalone copies of the individual programs (you will
most likely need the full versions) that are present in Professional but
absent from Small Business, and install them alongside your existing
Office 2003 Small Business Edition.
