Office 2003 Beta showing expired

P

pat

My Beta version crashes occassionally and the details
show that it has expired. I have a full version on order
(Office 2003 Pro)but also I have a trial version on
another computer in my home. I'm wondering if I can
install the Trial version "on top of" my Beta version
until my Full version gets here. Since I am receiving the
full version as part of participation in the Office
Launch seminar and was hoping I could accelerate the
delivery thereof.

Hi Pat,

What is the exact message you're seeing in the
details of the error?

The Office 2003 Beta 2 copy expires on 30 Nov 2003
if the refresh updates are installed, it's the
end of January 2004 (the updates are no longer available
for download from MS). It is possible that one of
the add-ins or trial services that were offered during
the beta may have expired.

You can install Office 2003 Trial software over the
beta, or uninstall the beta and then install the
trial software. The trial software is the full package.

Be sure to backup all of your files first.

When you say back up all my files, aren't all the .doc
documents saved in My Documents, in other words, not
removed during the uninstall of the Beta?

I will have to write down exact message next time I see
it. It is also in the error log somewhere, if you know
how to access it.
Thanks again.

Okay, outlook crashed, I sent the error report and then
it says to go to this link to see how to prevent crashes
in the future.
The link is a crash analysis site telling me that I am
expired and I need to buy the full version.

Can I just got to control panel and uninstall the Beta
and install the trial until my full gets here?

Hi Pat,

Yes. As you note, sometimes things crash, that's
one reason it's a good idea to back up all of your
files first, just in case you need to 'start again'

May want to restart your PC after uninstalling,
run by http://windowsupdate.com and then install
the trial copy.
