Office 2003 beta

ah

I am a beta tester for Office 2003. Has someone any idea
when this product, which is in my computer, won't be
anymore available for me to use? I thought that it would
die at the launch of the commercial version but I still
can use it.

I don't know the answer to that or where you go to find out about the
nuances of time bomb extensions. I think there was a thread that said you
could extend the beta by going to the Office site for at least one of the
components of Office or as Mr. Gates called them at the launch, modules, for
30 days. Possibly yours *won't time out--and the answer to why would be
interesting.* If you were going to use it, I would try to add the refresh if
you haven't and any updates available.

If you do put a released version of MOS 2003 on that machine though, you
will uninstall the Beta of any common components, automatically and with
good reason, because they would need to use common .dlls and that won't
work.

I think that you will not be able to use the Beta version
after the 15th of November -- or there abouts. I
remember middle November as the date.

Thanks, Bob, for the link. My version is 11.5329 5329. I
have refreshed it. It should last until January. Any
idea if we get a discount on the purchase of the upgrade
when we have spotted numerous bugs to MS <smile>?

No. If you were an official beta tester, you should have received a thank
you gift. If you paid S&H for the beta, then you will receive nothing. No
beta testers were given discounts.

What is an official/unofficial beta tester? I just
enrolled, like everybody I suppose, when MS called for
beta testers so I think I was an official beta tester but
I did not receive any thank you gift yet.

What is S&H please? I paid $25 for the shipping of the
software because I live in the UK.

Official means you were singled out to do beta testing rather than being one
of the (tens? hundreds? of) thousands who paid to do it.

S&H = shipping & handling.
