Office 2003 Beta

Brad

I have ordered the beta for office 2003 and have some questions. Can it be
run side by side with Office XP? Will by personal folder items move right
into the beta? If I uninstall, will I have to save by pst files and then
reinstall XP?

Thanks

Yes, you can run it side by side with your current Office. However, I
strongly recommend that you install on a separate OS partition as the files
commingle and can have bad side effects if trying to roll back. It is not
for the faint of heart = thus the term "Beta."

As for the .pst files, if you do not convert to the new unicode format, your
..pst file should be safe. However, it is always a good idea to make a
backup of all of your documents and files to ensure that you can roll back
to a pre-beta state.

Use it at your own risk... it is beta software and comes without support
except for what you can get in the public news groups.

Can you please explain how to install on a separate OS partition? I am not
sure I understand.

Hi Milly,

It's only dead because of typo disease <g>

Since Bob's link is dead, here is what I mean.

Partition your drive and install a second copy of your operating system on
it. This is commonly known as dual-booting. Then, install the beta to the
second OS partition and use that for testing. You can wipe it out once you
are finished and still leave your original partition intact.
