Office 2003 Beta

Hello,

I had installed MS Office 2003 Beta which recently
expired. I tried installing Outlook 2003 and it first
asks if I want to uninstall the pre-release or trial
version of the software. I answer "yes" and get the
message back that:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package."

I press "OK" and then get the dialog:

"The Microsoft Windows Installer has detected a pre-
release version of Microsoft Office Professional Edition
2003 on this computer. Pre-release versions must be
removed before Setup can continue."

Then the insaller exits saying:

"Installation ended prematurely because of an error."

I am running Windows XP Home Edition. How am I supposed
to remove the pre-release of Office 2003 Professional if
the installer won't remove the old expired product? What
steps can I take? Do I have to restore the system to an
earlier date? Please help, I am baffled and really need
to install a copy of Outlook 2003 to get my email...

Thanks,

Steve

Hi, anonymous,

What happens if you go to the Windows Control Panel, use "Add/Remove
PRograms", and remove all of the Beta software? You may need your original
CD to do the uninstall.
