office 2003 - changing folders when opening/saving

Big problems when opening/saving files in any office program: selecting the
appropriate destination for files seems to cause huge difficulties in Office
– changing the folders takes a whole minute or even more (most of the times I
have to change several folders, i.e. several minutes of waiting). This occurs
only in Office programs, other work just fine (ACAD, MathCAD, Corel,…), and
the Explorer changes folders also quickly.
I updated the office and the windows (XP Pro SP2). Pleas help, it is getting
really annoying!!

Open My Computer and then R-click and select Disconnect for any drives
that are inaccessible.
