Office 2003 compatible with symantic Norton Anti-virus

I recently installed a full version of Office 2003 on my company laptop (Dell Latitude 840 running Windows XP Pro, with all updates through 3/1/04). It ran fine for 2 weeks, until our Exchange server was hit with many instances of the Netsky worm last Friday. My IT tech determined that for my self and another user on office 2003 who were apparently infected, the problem was that Symantic does not support Office 2003 within their Corporate Anti-virus software; and specifically that Outlook 2003 can not be scanned by Norton's "Real-Time scan" function. This creates a vulnurability, and we have had to step back to Office XP.

Can this be true? Is it possible that Office 2003 is not supported by Symantic Anti-virus Corporate edition 8.00.9374 rev 4?

What a total crock! Of course they support Office 2003. I am running it
right now and just opened a .pif (courtesy of today's virus swarm) and
Norton caught it.

I feel sorry for you if this is the level of tech support your company
employs. I know that many system admins look down on "l"users and will tell
them anything but this outright lie takes the cake.

Bull!
We use Norton Corporate and Office 2003, it blocked all recent instances of
Netsky, Bagle etc, etc, etc.
