Office 2003 Crashes on opening apps

I can get to text by opening in Note pad but am unable to open or close Word,
Excel or PPT I believe since downloading Office SP3. The support site
indicates that for security reasons these apps were 'blocked' for opening and
saving files. I followed instructions to download and 'unblock' each app to
no avail. Why would MS "help" me by denying access to all my files without
providing a fix? Please help!

Can you give us the exact text of the error messages, please?

There is no error message. The screen tries to open Word but the screen is
all blue. In the left hand screen, partly visible is the msg that Windows
rescued a file, but the rest of the text that allows me to open the saved
file is not visible, when I click within the frame it hangs up.

I haven't installed SP3 myself. Does it offer an uninstall option? (Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs). If so, give that a try.
