I created a custom install of office 2003 and half way
through, the
installation rolls back. I have experience with the
resource kit as my
custom installation of office xp worked flawlessly the
last year and a half.
The 2003 custom install seems to work fine on WINXP, but
on my WIN2K
machines it consistently fails. I am unable to determine
the problem,
removed almost all of my customizations from the install,
and I'm ready to
pull my hair out(whats left of it).
Here are the last few lines of the verbose log:
=== Logging stopped: 2/5/2004 10:23:31 ===
MSI (c) (08:E0): Note: 1: 1708
MSI (c) (08:E0): Product: Microsoft Office Standard
Edition 2003 --
Installation operation failed.
MSI (c) (08:E0): Attempting to delete file
C:\Temp\c5104e.mst
MSI (c) (08:E0): Unable to delete the file. LastError = 32
MSI (c) (08:E0): Grabbed execution mutex.
MSI (c) (08:E0): Cleaning up uninstalled install
packages, if any exist
MSI (c) (08:E0): MainEngineThread is returning 1603
=== Verbose logging stopped: 2/5/2004 10:23:31 ===
I am installing as a local admin.
Please let me know if you need more info.
Thanks for any ideas.
