A friend now has Office 2003 but originally had Office 2000. He now cannot
open files (in Excel 2003 and also Word 2003)that were created after
originally using Office 2003.
We had to reinstall Office 2003 yesterday because we reinstalled Windows XP
Pro. after that install he could not launch Excel-hence the off2003
reinstall. Message says "access denied or the file maybe encrypted. check
with your system admin. " PC is at his home. He is logged in as the
administrator. there is a second PC on his network and on that pc with
Office 2003, when attempting to open the file, the same message occurred.
He is not being prompted for a password when attempting to open the file. I
have checked all the settings for encryption and there does not appear to be
any. All service packs(XP and Office are installed). He cannot even email
the file due to the access denied message. Files that were created solely in
Office 2k, open ok in Office 2k and Off2003.
Any ideas are appreciated.
