Office 2003 Format Font Dialog does not function anymore

My Format/Font Dialog does not function anymore. Word/PP and Excel hang
themself up if I want to open this dialog.
The Dialog works in Outlook but not in Wordpad.
I cleand up Office 2003 completely and reinstalled WinXPSP2, then
reinstalled Office 2003, with all updates from WEbupdate - but no change in
behaviour of the Dialog.
Is sonething wrong with Windows' Font Folder?
Any thoughts?
