Office 2003 GPO Deployment

J

Joe

We wish to upgrade our existing Office 2000 & 2003 workstations to Office
2003... hopefully before 2006! :)
We have pushed out Office via GPO/MSI for years but ....how do you deploy a
product that requires the 20 digit serial number via a GPO/MSI?

Thank you.

Assuming you are using Volume Licensed Media, you would use the Custom
Installation Wizard from the Office Resource Kit (ORK) to create a Transform
(MST) that you deploy along with the MSI package. Look at the details from
Office Online:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011402011033.aspx

Just an FYI: Since GPO bypasses setup.exe, you cannot place the PID on a
command line or inside setup.ini to propagate. Therefore you have to use a
transform.

Hope this helps!
