Office 2003 icons are blurred\fuzzy\hazy, how to fix them?

All the icons in Office 2003 (word excel, outlook, etc) appear blurred and
hazy. Otherwise the icons look perfectly fine in my windows xp pro and other
applications. Only the icons of Office 2003 pro are hazy, even when they are
set to "small". What could be the issue and how can it be rectified. tried
searching but couldn't find anythng, any help would be greatly appreciated.
