Will Office 2003 function properly on a Celeron machine?
What is the reason for only recommending a Pentium
machine?

there is no reason, just as the Athlons are left off. The requirements are
for minimum processor power, not brand of chip. The other requirements are
for Windows 2000, sp-3 or Windows XP. If you meet these requirements and
have sufficient processing power, then you can run Office System 2003.
