Office 2003 Install The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way

I migrated to a new computer using Spearit Move Me. All seemed fine. When I
looked a few days later I notice Microsoft Office Document Image Writer was
not migrated, so I tred to rum Office installation to get it back. That is
the first time I saw the error:

msiexec.exec This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in
an unusual way.

No problem I figured, I just uninstalled Office form Add/Remove and I would
reinstall. But I can't reinstall - I get the same error:

msiexec.exec This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in
an unusual way.

So I downloaded and installed installer (3.1?) from MS

The Frontpage 2003 installer works fine, but I still can't reinstall Office
2003 Professional now.

Ran MS Installer clean-up there is no mention of Office 2003 there.

This is Win XP SP2 with IE7.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

Seems to be a registry corruption.

Ill put it in simple terms , ie , what you can try.

goto Start-> RUN . and key in REGEDIT Click on file -> export and save the
entire registry. Then under Hkey current user -> Software -> Microsoft,
Delete the Office key. Do the same under Hkey Local Machine.

Try reinstalling office.

It turned out to be related to .Net Framework 2.0 . Once I uninstalled that
and then reinstalled it everything worked fine. The uninstall was not
pretty, it gave me the same error message over and over (same error message
as the subject line). Hope this helps someone.
