Office 2003 Installation Problem

HMSGRACE

I have recently installed Office Pro 2003 on a laptop running Vista Home
Premium. Now everytime I start any application, I get a box saying "preparing
to install" followed by a box saying "please wait while Windows configures MS
Office Professional Edition 2003". This seems to loop about 7-10 times
before an application opens. When I reboot the computer, I now get a message
that Vaio Service Utility has stopped working and is being closed, the system
then goes through the same "install/configure" loop.

I've already tried uninstalling Office, deleting the HKCU and HKLM entries
for Office, and reinstalling Office with the same results.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks for your help. The information on this tool is very sketchy, so let
me ask a couple of additional questions:

1. If you use this tool, is it true that the Control Panel "Add/Remove"
Programs will not be able to see or remove the Office installation?

2. Having tried to use the tool, all the office installed shortcuts and
Startmenu entries were invalid and needed to be manually recreated. Is there
a way around this?

3. The first time I ran the tool was right after I installed Office 2003.
After running the tool, none of the applications (Excel,Word,...) would work
at all. I had to reinstall Office, open each application and office tool,
and then let the application go through it's giration of 7-13 loops through
the install/configuration messages. After doing that for all the
applications and tools, I reran the tool and then recreated the shortcuts and
menu items. Is there a better/quicker way to have done this?

4. Given the nature of computers, I assume that at some point this
application will need to be reinstalled. Is there any way to avoid having to
do this whole mess again?

Again, thanks.

You could try this, usually works;
If you have Windows Vista, then right-click on an Office program
shortcut, choose to run the Office program as Administrator, accept the
EULA, close the Office program, and then start the Office program normally.

If the previous suggestion doesn't help, then see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=884202 "You must accept the Office
End User License Agreement every time that you start an Office program".

It is not the EULA that the OP has an issue with. It is with the Installer

(1) It has nothing to do with Add Remove
(2) No
(3) Only use this Tool for the Office Application that is listed as trying to install
(4) You might need to install the Office Application as in the above number 3
