I'm running Vista Ult. 32 bit version on a dual core Amd processor and 2GB
RAM. I was running Office 2003 successfully until I screwed up and deleted
an MSO Cache file by mistake. Since then I've had nothing but problems
whenever I attempt to change the installed baseline (like adding an Excel
Add-In).
At first I was getting the SKU1111.cab file missing message. I found a KB
article that said to use the Microsoft LISTool.exe utility to fix the
problem. I ran it and retried to install a new Add-In and got the same
message again. Now I reinstalled Office over the existing copy and retried
to install the Add-In. Now I am getting a message that the new install
failed because a required file E4561412 cannot be found.
I found a couple of references (unhelpful) to the same problem with an XP
user but can't find any mention of the referenced file anywhere on the
Microsoft website. The install logs in Temp folder don't indicate any
problem with the installation process of Office itself and I can't find any
other mention of the problem on my system.
Surely someone has seen this one before and can give me a clue.
TIA
