I have a client taht has a small workgroup of Windows XP Pro (with Office
2003 SBE SP3)machines. One of the PCs acts as a server for their
documents.Recently something has changed, and the users now cannot open
Office documents from the "server".
It gives the following error:
Microsoft Excel
Could not open 'http://servername/share/filename.ext'
I am not sure why this is prefixing the path with http. Somethings seems to
have gone wrong on the server. The client PCs can open Acobat and AutoCAD
documents from the same share without an issue. This probelm seems to be
linked to Office applications. All the clients can share documents amongst
one another without problems. It is only the acting "server" that seems to
cause this issue.
I have:
1. reinstalled the network drivers
2. disabled the Bitdefenbder virus package
3. disabled the firewall
4. repaired office on the clients
Nothing seems to work. Please help.
