office 2003 (KB919029) HELP!

I have tried over and over to find a solution to installing office 2003
(KB919029) it will download but will not successfully install. It will not
give a reason why just says installation unsuccessful. can any one give
suggestions. Using windows XP Home ed

OK.. the problem seems to be 'Microsoft' Update site.. KB919029 registers as
a different size file to almost everybody..



If you navigate to the new Microsoft Office online site and then click on
'Office Update' in the Downloads column, left hand side, it asks to accept
an active x control, searches for any relevant updates, and then downloads a
file which installs without problem..



To make sure of this, or if the above does not work.. read the rest of this
post..



If you go back to 'Microsoft Update' and click on the option to 'Change
settings', you can reset Microsoft Update back to Windows Update, which also
recovers Office Update as a separate entity again.. this gets over future
Office updates failing until such time as Microsoft Update becomes a
reliable source..

Well, why would Office XP need Office 2003 updates anyway?
I have Office XP Professional and it fails to install for me also.
My guess is that it fails because I don't have Office 2003 in the first
place.

I dont know if I need it or not I have auto updates and it keeps telling me I
need this as a critical update the yellow icon will not go away that says I
need to install updates why are they sending me updates that I dont need?

Good question which evidently nobody can answer.
Hide it from displaying like I did and then you'll only get this reminder
when you run update again.
You've hidden important updates
You've asked us not to show you one or more high-priority updates but your
computer might be at risk until they are installed.

I uninstalled Office 2003 Resource kit (don't know why I had it installed in
the first place) and now Windows Update has stopped telling me that I need
the Office 2003 (KB919029) update.
I have Office XP Professional.
