Office 2003 Mial merge error

R

Roger

Hi,

I have been trying to fix a computer that has a mail merge error. When
running the mail merge, I need to create a database. When trying to do
this, I get an error: "This operation cannot be completed because of dialog
or database engine failures." I uninstalled the Office XP and loaded Office
2003 and the same error exists. I searched the knowledge base and did not
find an answer on how to fix this problem. Any information would be
appreciated in repairing this.

Thanks

Roger

Hi Roger,

Huh, it's been a *long* time since I've seen this question. The problem
usually can be solved by installing the newest version of mdac, which you
should be able to find at microsoft.com/data

Note, though, that if you have other, customized database software, that this
may be relying on older drivers that could be replaced. This shouldn't cause
problems, in an idea world, but in reality, the possibility exists. So do
contact the company that supplies you with any such tool and ask if later
versions of mdac could affect their application. (I mention this explicitly
because I don't think one can uninstall mdac versions.)
