Office 2003 OEM reinstall

Gerry

I have a totally fired Dell computer that had a OEM install of Office 2003.
I am in the process of building a system and would like to install Office
2003 from a Microsoft OEM CD that came with another system. Since I have the
CD key from the fried Dell will I be able to do this install and validate it?

No, the license died with that other system. That's one of the reasons why
OEM versions are cheaper.

If it's a branded OEM that you have on CD, it won't work. If it's a
generic OEM CD, it will if the last time you activated it was over 120
days ago, but you will be violating the EULA to use it even though it
will install, activate, become "genuine" and no one but you will be the
wiser. You will have to use the original product key that came with the
CD. Whether you want to violate the EULA is your call. I am not
recommending either way.

The Office 03 product key on the Dell died with the Dell machine.

If you don't use Outlook, another alternative is to use Open Office.
It's free and can be downloaded from http://www.openoffice.org/

Hi
I have this issue I think. But the cd I have might be the same original one for this cd. Just need to repair. All Office aps won't start and want to be reinstalled. Maybe some file was deleted fighting viruses with cCleaner etc. Anyway, I matched 25 digit Product Key on disc envelope with the one in the system using Belard Advisor. It is same.
When I put cd in the drive, my tablet opens up Office11 (D:) and the list of folders and files on the cd is shown.
If I click setup.exe, my pc installs(?) a few files then a Windows Installer window pops open with the statement "This patch package could not be opened ..."
What can I do????? Help! Jeff

Hi
If I look under my Windows XP sp3 control panel, and click Add or Remove Programs, I find Microsoft Small Business Edition 2003 and boxes for Change or Remove and under it are lots of updates and Security Updates. If I click Change, a Windows Installer box pops open Preparing to Install. Then an Ad or Remove Programs box opens stating This Patch Package Could Not Be Opened. Verify that the Patch Package Exists ....
I have the cd but it won't perform a Repair. What to do? I am the administrator on this pc.

Have you tried doing a repair from the Programs and Settings section of the
Control Panel? Often, you do not even need the original CD to do a repair
